When we recently visited Blake’s parents, I was awestruck once again by my Mother-in-law’s magnificent hanging plants. Forget a green thumb, Dee has an entire green hand. They are large, lush and healthy in every way. I am going to have to work long and hard to ever approach her abilities, but I can dream and aspire to such greatness.
They are huge and heavy so she had to call her big burly (hee hee) sons down to bring the ones out back into the house for her. And of course she has great big windows to hang them by in the basement and upstairs.
While they are all beautiful, I am most impressed by the one on the left of the vine and the one in the picture alone (of course I don’t know their names) as I have had the worst problems growing them in the past. But just look – hers go all the way to the ground – amazing! We don’t have the room to hang them all and could hardly take them back on the plane, but oh what I would give to have just one or two of them, especially as I have learned that she starts over with the ferns every year.
I have no problems with my Mother-in-law except a large dose of envy.

I am no expert on gardening but the two hanging plants at the bottom are two that I have! The white & green one is a wax plant (Hoya) that blooms! The one in the iron & straw basket is a Hindu Rope!
And if I can grow them (I stole a piece of the Hindu Rope from a neighbor) you can too!
But I would love to know what your Mother-in-Law ‘feeds’ them! That’s the secret I think! But try with some ones. You can do it!

The vine I think I can handle but the rope has given me problems. Not nearly so much as that really long one with the small leaves though. Thanks for the encouragement Georgianna!
