A Really Well Designed and Aggressive Transplanting Spade from Sneeboer
I was trying to get rid of some holly that has been threatening to take over our front bed the other day and I had a really hard time. Shortly after, someone bought a Sneeboer Transplanting Spade, and while I was packing it, I realized that it would have been the perfect tool for the job. It’s unusually shaped with a sharpened notch in the center to give you greater cutting power and more stability so that you don’t slide off the surface of the root you are trying to cut through. This would have been really good for me because I put on my cowboy boots so that the holly did not keep stabbing into me with those pointed leaves and man are they slippery. At the same time, it’s less than five inches wide so working right beside the rosebush would have been less difficult than with the full size spade I was using.
I don’t know who wrote it to give them credit but I think the following review from gardentoolcompany.com really sums up this great spade:
Awesome, awesome, awesome…

“I can’t say enough about the Sneeboer tools–true pieces of art that you can enjoy using in the garden. This tool probably impressed me the most because of its solid hefty sharp head. The head is a unique shape and it is both “show” and “go”–it made quick work of the ornamental grass I divided with it. I could see this tool assisting with digging holes that have roots and of course for transplanting trees and shrubs. A+ tool that is a must have for the serious gardener!”
